John Hagee is the senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas. He has written "a warning to the world" in his 2006 book Jerusalem Countdown. This interesting and rather startling book zeros in on what, on the cover is termed, "…could this be the beginning of the end?"
To quote from the book's back cover, "Jerusalem Countdown by best-selling author John Hagee anticipates Israel's strategies toward any Iranian threat and the resulting effect upon America. Can anyone actually believe that the Islamic fanatics presently in charge of the Iranian government would not use nuclear weapons on Israel, America and the world?"
Sobering words, to be sure; as are these from another Hagee quote.
"Those nations who align with God's purposes will receive His blessing. Those who follow a policy of opposition to God's purposes will receive the swift and severe judgement of God without limitation."
Anyone who follows world events has to know that Iran is boasting that it will destroy Israel and wipe it off the map. Such fanaticism is not welcome in the world of honesty and decency and certainly is not wanted nor needed especially in the Middle East.
When God spoke to Abram [God later changed his name to Abraham] as recorded in the Book of Geneses, God promised Abram saying, "thou shalt be a father of many nations."
God added, ""Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations I have made thee. And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee and kings shall come out of thee.'
King David [the youngster who slew Goliath] was one of those kings and his line produced the most wonderful Jesus Christ.
"And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations as an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.
"And I will give unto thee and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou are a stranger, all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be thee God."
Those powerful words of God spoken to Abraham were a promise to Abraham and all who followed his line that they shall have "all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession." How the Islamic fanatics can claim that same land as theirs and announce that the Israelites will be wiped off the face of the earth is beyond understanding.
Based on my reading of Islam and having spoken to Muslims, I believe that Muslims recognise Abraham as one of the true prophets. It that is so, then how can fanatic Muslims go against God's words spoken to that same Abraham? Zounds, but it is perplexing!
Padre Hagee explains this and much more in his book.
For Christians, Jerusalem Countdown is a vault of information that ought to be read, if for no other reason than to better understand the fanaticism that exists in the Islamic world. Also, how certain European and Asian countries are in cahoots with the Iranian despots.
Read, weep and pray to God for salvation.
Bible quotes are from King James with this note: "Translated out of the original tongues … and with the former translations diligently compared and revised."
