Hunting for Books on the Net
by Robin Nobles
During the hot, summer months, it's nice to curl up under the air
conditioning and read a good book. But have you ever tried to
find old out-of-prints books by your favorite author and been out
of luck? Or, maybe you're an audio book lover like me, but you
haven't been able to find your favorite titles in audio. At times
like these, the Net is a great place to dig for those elusive
books.
We all know about Amazon, but Barnes & Noble's site is excellent
as well, and it also offers an area for searching for out-of-
print books. You can even learn more about the sizes and
conditions of out-of-print books, in case you decide to take it
to the next level and become a collector.

What about a search engine for books, one that will compare
prices? At AddAll, you type in the name of the book, its ISBN
number, etc., and it searches through over 30 bookstores, then
displays the results. www.addall.com
The Advanced Book Exchange is another place for searching for
out-of-print books. Not only does it offer excellent information
for collectors, it also offers book reviews and free software for
helping you keep track of your books. www.abebooks.com
When looking for books, whether still in print or not, don't
forget about eBay Auction. You can sell old books there yourself,
or you can get an idea of what some of your books might be worth
in the marketplace. Looking for an autographed book by your
favorite author? Click on Books on eBay's main menu, then look
for First Editions, then Signed. www.ebay.com
If you like audio books, be sure to stop by Books on Tape, which
offers unabridged audio books for sale or rent. You can rent
their books for 30 days at a time. They even send you a pre-
stamped box to return the tapes in. Can't get much easier than
that. And, because the books are unabridged, every word in the
printed book is included. With over 5,000 titles, you should be
able to find the latest titles to rent.

Finally, if you'd like to read a review of a book before buying,
visit the BookReporter.com. The site also features author
interviews, message boards, and chat rooms.
